Plot Summary:On a quiet street at night, Doug meets Frank and informs him that Janeen and Zoe have been investigating Peter’s death, finally tracing it to Rachel. He asks Frank what to do about Zoe, and Frank replies not to worry—he’ll handle her. Zoe feels uneasy during intimacy, plagued by anxiety and insecurity. Frank visits Jackie, asking about her future plans and whether she wants to join the leadership ranks. He aims to recruit her as his successor, win her loyalty, promise arms deals, and appoint her whip—ensuring he can focus on becoming Vice President without distractions. To persuade her, Frank shows her confidential files from Weber and Buckwalter about Jackie, urging her to consider her options carefully. Zoe goes to Rachel’s workplace to talk, but finds she has already quit. After persistent efforts, her supervisor finally reveals Rachel’s email address. Unbeknownst to Zoe, Doug had previously visited Rachel’s restaurant and urged her to resign immediately. Frank prepares disposable phones and other tools for eliminating Zoe. Doug arrives at Rachel’s apartment to escort her away, but Rachel suddenly points a knife at him, declaring she won’t run anymore. Doug quickly subdues her and forces her into the car. During security preparations, Frank insists that Edward Meecham must be included in the security team. Meanwhile, Zoe secretly investigates Frank. In the park, she confronts him directly, provoking his anger. When Frank is to present his first award as Vice President, his wife must attend. However, Claire learns one recipient is her college classmate—a man who once raped her—and refuses to go. But Frank insists the ceremony is vital, so Claire reluctantly agrees. At the subway station, Zoe speaks with Frank disguised as 'Falk'. She never intends to give up her investigation. Finally, Frank loses patience and pushes her off the platform. Zoe dies tragically. It is also Frank’s birthday. He extinguishes the birthday candle Claire prepared for him, and Claire gently squeezes his hand.
