Plot Summary: With only 2 hours and 17 minutes to convince Donald Blythe, Frank needs time and patience—both of which he currently lacks. Donald distrusts Frank and refuses to give him that crucial vote. Having previously withdrawn from the Education Bill, Donald is ready to take responsibility and won’t repeat his mistake. After just a few minutes, it seems Frank can’t persuade him. Just at this critical moment, the Vice President’s office receives an anonymous white powder and is immediately isolated. Now more desperate than ever, Frank faces mounting pressure. During this lockdown period, Donald makes a long phone call home due to his wife’s illness, revealing a personal vulnerability. The breakthrough comes not through logic but through empathy. With isolation expected to last another three or four hours, there’s good news: the vote has been postponed. Frank even helps maintain Donald’s connection with his wife, earning Donald’s deep gratitude. In the office, Frank and Donald share a heartfelt conversation about Donald’s wife. It turns out Donald once introduced a bill on dementia, and Frank probes into its failure. Suddenly, Donald senses something—believing Frank is exploiting his wife’s situation to push the bill through, he becomes furious. Trapped together in the Capitol building, the president and Donald watch their wife’s live broadcast as she recalls her childhood, her political journey’s beginning, and her love for Frank. When questioned about children, Claire finally confesses under pressure that she was raped—a moment of raw courage. Meanwhile, Jackie avoids traditional deals and instead uses psychological tactics to pressure certain lawmakers, showcasing her unique political strategy.
