Plot Summary:Mrs. Hale still intends to help Claire. At a small gathering, Mrs. Hale tried to hide her daughter's unfilial behavior, while severely criticizing her son-in-law, Frank. These old ladies, who had lived a wealthy life, were all indignant and pulled out checks to sponsor Claire. However, Mrs. Hale did not want to directly provoke a war between her daughter and son-in-law. She planned to donate the money to one of the Democratic candidates, Jackie Sharp, who supported Heather Dunbar. As long as Frank loses this election, Claire can start her own career. Under Claire's operation, the millions of dollars sponsored by the wealthy ladies became a bargaining chip for Celia and Jackie. As long as Jackie, with her military background, uses her personal influence to pass a bill in Congress to establish a breast cancer prevention and treatment center at the Veterans Hospital, this huge donation can be used by Jackie. But this incident angered Senator Doris, who was dissatisfied with her daughter Celia's unauthorized cooperation with Claire. As someone who has been in politics for decades, Doris can easily see through Claire's lies; the president would never agree to allocate millions of dollars to Jackie. Claire's emphasis on not contacting the President's office further confirmed Doris's suspicions. Doris remained calm on the surface, but had other plans in mind. Claire honored her agreement with Frank and rushed back to the White House a few hours before the State of the Union address. Having accepted her mother's help, Claire called her mother to express her gratitude. After a few words, Mrs. Hale brought up some of her own ideas, wanting her daughter to use her maiden name when running for election, or to use her maiden name as a middle name. When discussing the attire for the State of the Union address, Mrs. Hale ignored her daughter's preferences and demanded that her daughter wear a black dress. Claire became increasingly annoyed by this feeling of being controlled and abruptly hung up the phone. The State of the Union address was about to begin. Members of both houses of Congress and dignitaries from all levels gathered on Capitol Hill, and major media outlets also aimed their cameras here. When Claire, dressed in an ivory white gown, entered the Rotunda, those present gave a warm round of applause. She specifically asked Celia to sit beside her, as a foil to herself. Celia was also greatly honored to be able to sit with the First Lady on Capitol Hill. When Claire saw Senator Doris and Jackie enter the venue and take their seats together from afar, she secretly gloated over the success of her plan. Another round of applause, and President Frank entered the congressional chamber. The moment Frank shook hands with Senator Doris surprised Claire. After Frank took the stage, he did not forget to blow a kiss to Claire. In his State of the Union address, Frank repeatedly mentioned his wife Claire, and the camera repeatedly focused on Claire. After setting the stage, Frank turned the topic to Senator Doris, praising her years of contributions. Moreover, Frank would contact relevant departments to help Doris realize her plan to expand the Veterans Hospital and establish a breast cancer center. Senator Doris stood up and applauded excitedly. Subsequently, Frank publicly stated his support for Celia's candidacy for her mother's senatorial position. The camera once again turned towards Claire's direction, but focused on Celia next to her. The green leaf had now become the red flower, and the protagonist had become the foil. Immediately after the address, Claire, who had planned to fly back to Texas, was forcibly called back to the White House by Frank in his capacity as president. On the stairs, she saw Doris's fake smile, and could only force a smile and say some high-sounding words. Frank's purpose in calling Claire back was to make her understand that she should not be a stumbling block on President Frank's path. As long as he won the election, Frank would find a way to help her enter the Senate, rather than running for a House seat in a small district as she was doing now. Claire wanted to go back to Texas to think about it carefully. Frank thought his words had worked, and that Claire would choose the right time to run for senator again. But he was wrong. Claire was unwilling to admit defeat. After she got on the plane to Texas, the first thing she did was to discuss running for a higher position with Ryan. As the difficulty increased, Ryan's compensation also increased significantly. To raise this money, Claire asked her mother for money as soon as she returned to the farm. In her eyes, her political future was the most important thing, for which she could sacrifice everything, including her mother's only place of residence.
