Plot Summary:The Underwoods, nominated for president and vice president, follow the Conways' footsteps, campaigning in cities across the nation, but days of flying affect Frank's liver. They reluctantly accept doctor's advice, reducing Frank's flights to once a week. Given this, Frank decides to focus his energy on striking the Caliphate to demonstrate his diplomatic and military strength. In the Oval Office, Frank, with a tough attitude, demands the military implement a thorough strike plan. Brohart, as a military man, supports the president's plan, but this is not what Will wants. Will, to prevent Frank from stealing the spotlight, does not hesitate to use his connections to veto the Caliphate strike plan. Only then does Brohart see Will's true colors, realizing that the so-called patriotism is just a pretense to win votes. There is no difference between Will and Frank. But he is already on Will's rogue ship, and it's not easy to get off. Tom and Remy's first meeting is at Freddy's BBQ Joint, a place Frank frequently patronized. Before leaving, Remy gives Tom a hint: some of Frank's unsavory deeds were planned at this very BBQ joint. After Remy gets some corroboration from Tom, he once again finds Margaret Tilden, the owner of his former employer, The Herald. He needs to form an investigative team to dig deeper into the current President Frank's crimes. Thomas works for Claire, still tirelessly. But the scene at the party convention, with Claire and Frank on stage receiving cheers from delegates, makes him feel there is no room for him between the Underwoods. Therefore, Thomas wants to quit. But Frank invites Thomas to the White House residence, directly stating the relationship between Thomas and Claire. He hopes Thomas will continue to assist with the election. Frank can give Claire professional satisfaction, but is powerless in other aspects. He doesn't mind Thomas's presence.
