Plot Summary:After Walter and Jesse escape, Walter contemplates what to do with his car in the desert. Gus appears in his car, and Walter agrees to continue working for Gus if Gus forgives Jesse. Walter returns to the lab to find that Gus has brought in Gale as his new assistant. Gus sends people to continue tracking Jesse, while Walter continues working in the lab, with Gus's men monitoring both of them. Walter realizes that Gale is Gus's replacement for him, and once Gale masters his technique, Walter will lose his value. Gus finds Gale and tells him that Walter makes meth because he has lung cancer and doesn't have much time left. Gus suggests that Gale master all of Walter's techniques so he can continue working after Walter is gone. Mike finds Saul and asks if he knows Jesse's whereabouts. Mike finds Jesse's address on Saul's desk. Walter tells Saul that he has decided to launder money by buying a car wash. Saul takes him to a store where Jesse is hiding. Jesse and Walter discuss their options. Jesse suggests they go on the run together, but Walter is unwilling to abandon his family. Walter realizes that only by killing Gale can he survive. Walter wants Jesse to kill Gale for him, but Jesse is unwilling. Walter orders Jesse to track Gale, get his home address, and Walter will take care of Gale himself. Walter is at home taking care of his children when Gus's men appear at his door and take him away. Walter knows that Gus has seen through his plan, and he claims he will hand Jesse over to Gus in exchange for his own life. While Walter is on the phone with Jesse, he seizes the opportunity to tell Jesse to kill Gale. Jesse knocks on Gale's door, enters, and immediately shoots him. Gus's men immediately rush to Gale's house.
