Plot Summary: With successful maneuvering, Frank secures Ohio. Although many found it hard to believe William could be overturned like that, the reality before them was Frank and Claire becoming the new President and Vice President. William, despite his extreme reluctance, still picked up the phone to congratulate Frank against his will. Upon hearing Frank's offer to nominate him as Secretary of Transportation, he flatly refused such an insulting appointment. As the new government formed, existing cabinet members collectively submitted their resignations, only to be re-appointed to the new cabinet. Cathy, however, was hesitant, sensing that Jane was slowly taking over her role. Frank, before the new cabinet, also pledged to achieve results within the first three months, adding a glorious stroke to his hundred-day accomplishments. The dust of the election had settled, but LeAnn's sense of crisis immediately followed. She was the one who recommended Aidan, and given the current situation, it was hard to say Frank wouldn't discard her after using her, settling scores later. Aidan was in Petrov's hands, completely unreachable. So LeAnn approached the famous journalist Kate Baldwin, hoping she could go to Russia to interview Aidan and relay a message. Meanwhile, Thomas also grew tired of life in the White House and wanted to return to his former life of writing, which Claire agreed to. LeAnn's worries were not unfounded; Doug had secretly arranged for Seth to prepare a press release, to be issued if necessary, announcing LeAnn's leave of absence. But Doug was surprised to discover that before LeAnn even left, Mark was appointed as a Special Advisor to the President. This was Frank making a gesture, outwardly demonstrating a willingness for bipartisan cooperation to mend the rift between the Democratic and Republican parties. But for Doug, this was not good news. Soon, Doug felt threatened by Mark. Umack, the pro-Frank Black Caucus leader, received a summons from the disciplinary committee due to excessive meal expenses. This was clearly Representative Romero of the Latino Caucus causing trouble. When Umack sought Doug's help, Doug was powerless. After all, the Latino caucus's influence was growing strong, so Doug personally went to Romero's office. Romero's true intention was to gain Frank's attention, hoping for two seats at the presidential inauguration and an announcement to increase healthcare coverage to benefit more Latinos. Doug returned to the White House with Romero's demands and had a disagreement with the new advisor Mark on this issue. To Doug's annoyance, Frank listened to Mark's advice and agreed to Romero's demands. On the day of the ceremony, Mark, in an attempt to win over Romero, specifically swapped his front-row seat with the Romeros, who were originally assigned to seats by the aisle. However, Frank often acted unpredictably. In his inauguration speech, Frank did not announce an increase in healthcare coverage but instead implemented his employment act from years ago, prioritizing job security. Frank would not be easily led by the nose; Mark's scheme failed, and Romero, enraged, decided to rally the Republican party to restart the long-stalled War Committee to continue investigating Frank. Meanwhile, Kate had arrived in Russia, enduring various difficulties to meet Aidan under the surveillance of the Russian Federal Security Service. At LeAnn's request, before the interview began, Kate informed Aidan of LeAnn's predicament. Hearing that his old friend was implicated because of him, Aidan used the excuse of feeling nervous and needing fresh air to escape the agents' surveillance and secretly called LeAnn. Only after making the call did Aidan realize that LeAnn was using Kate to assist with an American rescue operation. Jane had already arranged an escape route through her connections in Russia, and Aidan, following LeAnn's instructions, successfully escaped into the Jordanian Embassy in Paris. In fact, Jane's intention was to silence Aidan abroad, so that whatever secrets he might have revealed to Russia would have no witnesses. But Frank insisted on Aidan returning to the country, and the next question was how to deal with LeAnn. The next day, major media outlets reported the White House's announcement that LeAnn would be taking a leave of absence to reconsider her career options. Although LeAnn knew she would be implicated by Aidan, Doug had acted too decisively, giving her no opportunity.
